History

The Order of Zarrintoch was instituted on December 16, 1996. The Order is conferred in 3 Classes upon government and public sector workers in recognition of significant contributions to Tajikistan. Qualifying service includes implementing democratic and economic reforms, developing science and culture, acts of special merit performed in the defence of the nation, acts of individual selflessness and civil valour, and other services which have contributed to the strengthening of peace, stability, and integrity of the nation.

The I Class is bestowed upon foreign heads of state, heads of government or other parliamentary leaders, heads of mission of international organizations, and Tajikistan legislative, executive, or judicial leaders. Senior civil leaders who have previously been recognised with the award of another senior Tajikistan Order may also be eligible for the award of the I Class.

The I Class Decoration is worn from a sash and with a Breast Star.

Recipients of the I Class are also entitled to a 40 percent increase in monthly emoluments.
