The Dubai Defence Force Service Medal was established following the formation of the United Arab Emirates on December 2, 1971. The Medal is awarded for service in the Dubai military. The Medal was discontinued in 1976 following the incorporation of the Dubai forces into the Federal Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates.

A suspension bar is affixed to the ribbon on the Medal which features an Arabic inscription which translates to the dates "1971-1976."
