History

The Order of the Republic was originally instituted by the Yemen Arab Republic in 1979 but was continued and modified in April 1991 following the unification of North and South Yemen and formation of the Republic of Yemen. The Order is conferred as the Republic of Yemen's highest honour.

It is believed that the Order features the award of a Collar, Sash Badge, and Breast Star. However, subsequent research is necessary to confirm.
