History

The Fiji Fire Service Meritorious Service Medal was instituted by the President of Fiji, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, by the Honours and Awards Act on March 8, 1995. The Fiji Honours System was established to promote national unity and to celebrate outstanding contributions made in service of the State.

The Medal is awarded to members of Fiji's fire services in recognition of valuable acts of bravery and leadership.

Clasps are awarded for subsequent awards and recipients are entitled to the post-nominal letters MSM.
