History


The New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal 1993 was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on July 1, 1993. It was established to celebrate 100 years of women’s right to vote in New Zealand. It is awarded to both women and men who have made a signficant contributions to the rights of women or women’s issues in New Zealand. Citizens of commonwealth countries or other foreigners may be recognised with Honorary medals.

The Bronze Medal was only awarded for 1 year. It is worn by men on a breast ribbon and by women on a bow, and was accompanied by a certificate.
