History

The Electricity Commission Medal (Silver) is conferred upon members of Papua New Guinea's electricity commission in recognition of 20 years of service.

There are two versions of the Silver Medal. The first was instituted prior to 1973, and features the inscriptions, "PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA ELECTRICITY COMMISSION" and "FOR 10 YEARS SERVICE."

The second version was instituted in 1973 upon the establishment of the internal self-governance of Papua New Guinea. It features the change in the inscription to, "PAPUA NEW GUINEA ELECTRICITY COMMISSION".

The medal was made obsolete in 1981.
