This Cross was established at the same time as the Medal for the Subjugation of the Western Caucasus. The silver cross was awarded to non-commissioned officers, volunteers, enlisted personnel, and militiamen who were involved in the campaign.
The obverse inscription translates to: "For Service in the Caucasus, 1864".
