This medal was established during the reign of Alexander II in commemoration of the war against Turkey. The dark bronze medal was awarded to military personnel who did not directly serve in battle.
The reverse inscription translates to: "Not Unto Us, Not Unto Us, But In Thy Name", and is a verse taken from Psalm 115.
