The Friedrich Franz III Commemorative Medal, 1897 was founded by Duke-Regent Johann Albrecht to commemorate the late Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III.

The medal was awarded to the servants and entourage of the late Grand Duke, as well as the official participants of the Grand Duke's funeral ceremony.
