Mecklenburg-Schwerin


Mecklenburg-Schwerin was a Grand Duchy in Northern Germany held by the House of Mecklenburg residing at Schwerin.
It existed from 1621 to 1701. In 1701, Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was once again reshaped, from which Mecklenburg-Strelitz originated.
639.958 was the population of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1910. In 1815 Mecklenburg-Schwerin became a Grand Duchy, which in 1918 as a Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin first achieved political independence. In 1934 under National Socialist pressure, the reunification of the two Free States Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz to the state of Mecklenburg.
